I think about a world to come where the books were found by the golden ones, written in pain, written in awe by a puzzled man who questioned, "What are we here for?" All the strangers came today and it looks as though they're here to stay.

Twin Peaks

One of the most important themes of the works of horror writer Stephen King is the idea that people have a dark half, prone to disorder and evil. I've never seen a better narrative in support of this theory than David Lynch's television program Twin Peaks. Amidst the mysteries of the Pacific Northwest, the murder of a young woman uncovers the absurd antics of the citizens of the small town of Twin Peaks. I have never experienced a more realistic existential horror than I did while watching Twin Peaks nightly before bed. What presents itself as a quirky soap opera emerges as the best meditation on the human encounter with evil that I've seen, quickly becoming one of the most significant television dramas of all time.
